SHOP UPDATE!!! ↘

I added many more items to my store today!  Please feel free to check them out, and let me know what you think.  :)

I have been on hiatus for a long time.  Apologies, all.  Student teaching does that to you.  Free time is hard to come by, but I am itching to return to normal posting eventually!

Knitting Schedule

:)

I sold a knit braided headband!

To a class mate!  Fuck yes.  Happy Tuesday.

Nature Knots - my Etsy store! ↘

I just listed a new knit in my store!  I also have my first vintage item in the store.  Check it out!

If you want a knit in a different color, please contact me!

Variegated Blue Knit Bow Pin
Three new knits for my store!
I have a cream color knitted braid headband, a “mermaid yarn” knitted bow pin, and a rainbow flag knitted pin!  The rainbow flag knitted pin is my new favorite item that I can make.  :)
The mermaid yarn is also what the headband that I’m wearing in the photo is made from.  It has all sorts of blues and purples in it, and it just made me think of mermaids and the ocean.
Check out my Etsy store, Nature Knots!  These items are not posted yet, because I still have to figure out pricing for the headband and the pride flag.  But stay tuned!

LAH: How do you make hats?

saffronjunkie:

I feel it is necessary for me to know.

I’ll share my secret hats with you over an email.  :)

But really, it’s not that hard and you can totally do it.  There’s a lot of trial and error, but it gets easier and easier.

These are the knits that I’ve been stockpiling over the past few weeks!

There are knit bows with pin backs, and owl pins too.  Lots of different sized headbands, five hats, and one dishtowel/small tapestry with an Om symbol on it.

My Etsy store is Nature Knots, and if you are interested in any knit photographed above, please let me know!  I also do custom orders to the best of my ability.

I am knitting a hat for myself!

The last 3 have been for my Etsy store or for someone who asked for one.  I have another hat requested by a friend’s brother, and I will be starting it soon too.

But I have two sets of knitting needles that are open!  So that means I can start 2 big projects simultaneously. They are both going to be slouchy beanie style hats, because those are so cozy for when it gets cold out.

I need help choosing my colors though!

  1. Dusty rose and brown (striped)
  2. Ice blue and white (striped)
  3. Ocean blue (solid)

I don’t know which combination to choose, since they are all beautiful colors.  I don’t think I’ve ever knitted a hat that I’ve hated.

What color combination do you think I should knit with?

Go buy some knit stuff! ↘

saffronjunkie:

This is my friend’s Etsy store. She makes cool hats, scarves, bows, and owls with skill and love. So go make her day, and get something useful before fall/winter hits!

THANK YOU HAYLEY FOR PLUGGING ME!  That was so nice of you.  :)

While you’re all at it, click on her name above and start following her.  There are many musings on her Tumblr about feminism and social justice, which are just generally awesome things to think about.

Pebble Knit Hat in Ocean Blue from Nature Knots by Alyssa

New Knits

I have some new knits to list and perfect!

I have a new color scheme for hats, and it’s just stripes, but it’s still really cute.  I have a golden yellow one with ocean blue stripes finished, and now I’m starting one that is leaf green and brown.  I also made a small tapestry with an Om symbol on it.  The color is red, which was not my first choice for the item, but it’s really nice all the same.  I’m pretty proud of that one, since it was my first try and it came out really cute.  There are also new knitted bow pins in various sizes, and they came out really well too.  I love the knitted bows a whole lot, actually.  So girly and sweet!

I will also be participating in at least one craft fair here at Penn State!  There are two, held through the visual arts department here, and I am going to try to at least do one.  According to my housemate, there is one right before Thanksgiving and there is one right before winter break.  I will know more about them in late October, but I am already preparing a stockpile of knits.  I have loads of patterns bookmarked for me to just keep going through, and I like that I have more stock to show for my hard work now.

I’ll put up a photo of the Om tapestry soon, but it doesn’t really photograph that well, since it’s kind of intricate.  But maybe I’ll just play with the lighting a bit and see how that might help.

If you’re interested in ordering or checking out any knits that I have currently for sale, my Etsy store is up and I can take custom orders.  :)
