Teacher Question!

Hey there, Tumblr teachers.  I have a question about your student teaching placements and driving.  I’ll be student teaching in the fall in a location that is ~40 minutes away from my apartment.  I am required to provide my own transportation and pay for my own gas money, which is likely to be a LOT when the entire semester’s expense is totaled.  

When you student taught, how did you cope with this kind of expense?  Did you have this kind of expense at all?  What is some advice that you’d be willing to dole out?
